Jackie L. Cade, 72, Quenemo: April 26, 1951 – April 28, 2023

QUENEMO, Kan. – Jackie L. Cade, 72, passed away April 28, 2023, at his home in Quenemo, Kan. He was born April 26, 1951, in Ottawa, Kan., the son of Jasper and Sarah (Wadkins) Cade.

Jackie graduated from Quenemo High School in 1969. He then graduated from the U.S. Trade School, Kansas City, Mo., for auto body repair and paint. He worked for several body shops in Ottawa for five years before going to work for Duke Manufacturing, Ottawa, as a sheet metal finisher and painter. Jackie owned and operated his own auto and tire repair shop for three years. He was a member of the American Motorcycle Racing Association, racing drag bikes for three years. He then worked construction, joining Local 1290 Union where he worked until he retired in January 2016.

On July 1, 1973, Jackie married Jane Smith. They were divorced Jan. 1, 1988.

Jackie enjoyed motorcycle riding, old cars and friends. He will be missed by his close friends Kenny and Juanita Adams and Sam Watts, as well as all who knew him.

Jackie is survived by his sister, Janice (Ray) Wards, Garnett, Kan.; a niece, Rachel Burgio, Tooele, Utah; and a nephew, Kyle Trendel, Baldwin City, Kan.

Graveside memorial services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, May 7, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Quenemo.
