VASSAR, Kan. – William I. Allen, 76, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023, at his home near Vassar, Kan. He was born Oct. 21, 1946, in Peabody, Kan., the son of Irving and Marjorie (Seibel) Allen.
Bill had lived in Lyndon, Kan., for many years, and had lived near Vassar for the last 20 years.
Bill graduated from Lyndon High School in 1964. He then served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. Bill had worked as a welder and truck driver for most of his life. He was a member of the Lyndon American Legion Post 125 and the NRA.
Bill was married to Kathy Doritty, June 19, 1992, in Lyndon.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy, on Sept. 6, 2021; daughter, Carrie Louise Allen; parents, Bud and Marjorie; and sister, Patricia Allen.
Bill is survived by his two sons, Curt Allen, of Melvern, Kan., and Norm Parker, Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Cristie Frye, Olivet, Kan., and Andrea Schattak, Melvern; brother, John Allen, of Michigan; two sisters, Jackie Shoblo, of Colorado, and Judy Murphy, Lyndon; and 20 grandchildren and25 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Monday, May 22, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until service time at the chapel. Inurnment will be in the Lyndon Cemetery at a later date.
