MUSTANG, Okla. – Cheryl Thornburgh, 76, daughter of Hubert and Beatrice (McClure) Thornburgh, was born Dec. 14, 1946, in Seiling, Okla., and passed away at home, May 19, 2023, in Mustang, Okla.
Cheryl was raised in Burlingame, Kan., and graduated from Osage City High School, Osage City, Kan., in 1965. She had a love for hosting dinner parties and decorating for Christmas.
Her true passion in life was her daughter, Babette. When Babette brought home every stray animal she could find, Cheryl quickly learned how to become a vet. When Babette didn’t like her hairstyle that day, Cheryl would be standing by to wash it out and restyle it again. When Babette and her friends wanted to go roller skating, Cheryl became the weekly taxi driver. When Babette became sick, Cheryl worked nights so she could be by her side during the day. Their bond was everlasting.
After Babette passed away in 1989, Cheryl began working for Southwest Airlines and retired in 2020.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill, Bob and Jerry; sisters, Carolyn Farris and Faye Barnwell; and her daughter, Babette Colstrom.
She is survived by her sister, Marilyn Stults, of Florence, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; and cherished friends.
A visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame, KS 66413. Graveside services and inurnment will follow at the Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame.
