The Osage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a semi-trailer rollover accident on Interstate 35, southeast of Melvern, Sunday evening.

The sheriff’s office reported that at about 10:37 p.m. July 9, 2023, dispatch began receiving reports of the accident near milepost 164 on I-35. Osage County Sheriff’s deputies, Osage County Fire District No. 3, Waverly Fire Department, and Osage County EMS responded to the scene, where  a tractor-trailer driven by Ismael Rage, 56, of Columbus, Ohio, had lost control for an unknown reason and rolled over onto its side. The wreck completely blocked both northbound lanes of the interstate.

Rage was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The northbound lanes of I-35 were closed until approximately 1:38 a.m. Monday, when the wreckage was moved off the roadway. Cleanup efforts continued Monday at the accident site.
