BURLINGAME, Kan. – Donald Harry Martin, 82, of Burlingame, Kan., passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan. Don was born June 5, 1941, in Rock Creek, Kan., the son of Harry A. and Zora C. (Garner) Martin.

He graduated from Meriden High School in Meriden, Kan.

Don was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969; and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Topeka, Kan., since 1977.

Don married Joan E. Hallauer, Sept. 2, 1967, in Netawaka, Kan. They shared more than 39 years of marriage before her passing Oct. 28, 2006.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wm. Jeffrey “Jeff” Martin, August 3, 1993; and a sister, Peggy Long, Sept. 28, 2021.

Don was an avid youth sports photographer, former baseball coach, and president of the Burlingame summer ball association. He was proud of his children and grandchildren, and never missed an event.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Weide and her husband, Lee, of Crete, Neb.; a son, James Martin, Cleveland, Mo.; grandsons, Ryan and Kyle Weide; granddaughters, Ella and Erin Martin; a sister, Sue Hallauer, Holton, Kan.; a brother, Mike Martin, Meriden; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Christ Lutheran Church, 3509 SW Burlingame Road, Topeka, KS 66611. Interment will follow at the Steward Cemetery, Hoyt, Kan. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame, KS 66413.
