BURLINGAME, Kan. – Lola Marlene (Kennedy) Dorr, 76, peacefully passed away surrounded by family, on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at her home in Burlingame, Kan. She was born July 1, 1947, in Ottawa, Kan., the daughter of Ralph “Red” and Helen (Hanson) Kennedy.

Marlene grew up in Lyndon, Kan., and graduated from Lyndon High School in 1965. She had lived in Burlingame for more than 50 years.

Marlene worked as a bookkeeper for Lyle’s Conoco and she cleaned houses. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years, and she received a leadership award for her years of service. Marlene had a very creative side. She loved to crochet, knit, cross stitch, scrapbook, paint and ceramics. Her greatest passion was her grandkids. She loved to attend any activities they were involved in.

Marlene married Lyle “Bud” Dorr, July 14, 1965, in Miami, Okla. To this union two children were born, John and Maurene.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Helen; and her sister, Darlene Ballinger.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Lyle, of 58 years; son, John (Carol) Dorr, Burlingame; daughter, Maurene (TJ) Brake, Burlingame; her four beautiful grandkids, Dalton (Megan McKanna) Dorr, Ashton (Danen) Kistner, Dyllan (Shanelle) Brake and Jaelynn Brake.

Graveside memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage City, Kan.
