Shary Jane Hallgren, 80, Osage City: Nov. 10, 1942 – Oct. 8, 2023

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Shary Witter Hallgren, 80, of Osage City, Kan., died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, at her home. Sharoll Jane Witter was born Nov. 10, 1942, in Hebron, Neb., the daughter of George E. and Ella R. (Wilken) Witter.

She graduated from Belleville High School, Belleville, Kan. In 1961, she graduated from Crumb’s Beauty School, Manhattan, Kan.

Shary married Max L. Hallgren in 1964. To this union two children were born, Kimberly and Kenneth. Max and Shary were later divorced. She married Delbert E. Wegener in 1986. He preceded her in death in 1997. She and Max remarried in 1999, and they made their home in Osage City. He preceded her in death in 2017.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Osage City, Women In Faith, Marshall Club, and Widows Better Together Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; grandparents, George and Rose Wilken and Harry and Louise Witter; brother, Ron Witter; and brothers-in-law, Warren Hallgren, Merlyn Farlee, and Don Brown.

Shary will be forever remembered by her children, Kimberly D. Hallgren and Kenneth “Boo” A. (Denise) Hallgren, all of Osage City; grandchildren, Kyle (Kyla) Hallgren, Auburn, Kan., Colton (Danielle) Hallgren, Osage City, and McKenna Hallgren, Osage City; great-grandsons, Max and Henry Hallgren, Osage City, and Charles and Carson Hallgren, Auburn; sister, Kathy Brown, Castle Pines, Colo.; brother, Michael (Wendi) Witter, Arvada, Colo.; and in-laws, Elaine Witter, State College, Penn., Jean Farlee, Republic, Kan., Bud and Darlene Hallgren, Topeka, Kan., and Evelyn Hallgren, Topeka; and many other relatives and special friends.

Celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the First United Methodist Church, 219 S. Sixth St., Osage City. Family will receive friends an hour before service. Inurnment will be at Osage City Cemetery.
