MELVERN, Kan. – Lori Lynn Privat, 62, passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at her home in Melvern, Kan. She was born April 29, 1961, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Dean and Vona (Rea) Rice.

Lori had lived all of her life in the Melvern community. She graduated in 1979 in the first class of Marais des Cygnes Valley High School.

Lori had been a homemaker all of her life, operated a daycare for many years, and then worked as a preschool teacher for 14 years.

Lori was married to Terry Burkdoll, Aug. 18, 1979. To this union two sons were born, Larry and Chris. They later divorced. On Dec. 29, 2005, Lori married Laryl Privat, in Las Vegas, Nev.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Vona; and an infant brother, Johnnie Dean Rice.

Lori is survived by her husband, Laryl, of the home; her two sons, Larry (Nicole) Burkdoll, Ottawa, Kan., and Chris (Madeline) Burkdoll, Waverly, Kan.; two sisters, Linda (John) Fellers, Melvern, and Jeannie (Brad) Brownlee, Wichita, Kan.; seven grandchildren; mother-in-law, Barbara Privat, Burlington, Kan.; brother-in-law, Rusty Privat, Melvern; and her former daughter-in-law, Kacie (Taylor) Everhart.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Melvern Cemetery at a later date.
