BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – Anna Marie Hoover, 87, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2023, at Villages of Jackson Creek, Independence, Mo. She was born Oct. 1, 1936, in Holcomb, Kan., the daughter of Joseph Baier and Monica (Unrine) Baier.
She graduated from Holcomb High School with the class of 1954. She later earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Avila University, Kansas City, Mo.
Anna was a third grade school teacher at Santa Fe Elementary School, Kansas City, Mo. She retired in 1995.
She was united in marriage to Duane Hoover, Nov. 18, 1961, in Garden City, Kan. They shared more than 61 years of marriage.
Anna enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the world. She liked to fish and collect glassware. She was an avid golfer, and enjoyed square dancing. Anna was a member of the Ladies Club of Kansas City, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Martin, Victor, Raymond and Joseph Baier; and two sisters, Mary Kuhlman and Irene Patton.
Surviving family includes her husband, Duane, of the home; two daughters, Letisha Mocker and Jacqueline Hoover, both of Overland Park, Kan.; a grandson, Grant Mocker; a sister, Barbara Hunter, Salina, Kan.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family graveside service and inurnment will be held at Overbrook Cemetery, Overbrook, Kan.
