Driver injured after collision with trailer parked on highway near Scranton

A Burlingame man was injured Thursday evening after the car he was driving collided with an unattended trailer parked partially in the roadway on U.S. Highway 56 near Scranton’s south city limit.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Douglas Bryan Siebuhr, 67, of Burlingame, was driving a 2005 Toyota Highlander eastbound on U.S. 56 about 5:33 p.m. Dec. 7, 2023, when he struck an untagged homemade trailer that was parked partially in the highway at milepost 401.

Siebuhr was reported as having suspected minor injuries and was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured. Both of the vehicle occupants were reported as wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The highway was closed to traffic for a short time while the accident was cleared.
