Local crews battle morning house fire in Lyndon during Sunday’s frigid conditions

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office reported that at 7:51 a.m. Jan. 14, 2023,  dispatch received a 911 call of a possible house on fire at 329 W. Ninth St., in Lyndon. The reporting party, a neighbor, advised that smoke was coming from the roof and the house was possibly occupied.

Osage County Sheriff’s deputies arrived within minutes. Realizing that the house was likely occupied, deputies forced entry and alerted the occupants, safely removing them from the residence.

Fire crews from Osage County Fire Districts No. 5, No. 2, and No. 3, and Franklin County’s Northwest Fire District battled the fire for several hours in temperatures below zero degrees with wind chill values much lower. Osage County EMS was also on scene during the incident due to the extreme conditions. The residence was reported to be a total loss.
