Loren H. Wright, 79, Olivet: Jan. 5, 1934 – Sept. 19, 2013

OLIVET – Loren H. Wright, 79, passed away on September19, 2013, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Mo. He was born on Jan. 5, 1934, in Olivet, Kan., and he was raised by his mother, Boneta Tyson Wright Fuller, and father, Jess Fuller, and was one of four siblings.

He grew up in Olivet and graduated at Olivet High School, and attended college at Chanute (Kansas) Junior College on a basketball scholarship.

Loren married Mary Jane Card in 1954 and had two children.

In 1964, he married LaFern Fry and raised two stepchildren.

After the passing of LaFern, he reunited with his first wife, Mary Jane, in 2006.

He spent most of his years around the Emporia, Kan., area and his later years in Grove, Okla. Loren medically retired from Kansas Power and Light Company in 1979 after a burn accident.

His favorite pastimes were camping all over the United States, fishing at Melvern Lake, and playing pool at the Grove Senior Center. Loren is also a member of the Grove First United Methodist Church.

Loren was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jess and Boneta Fuller, sisters, Doris and Dixie, brother Jim, his wife LaFern; stepdaughter, Barba (Bobbie), and a great-grandson, Lenny.

Loren is survived by his spouse Mary Jane, of Grove; son, Loren David Wright (wife Vickie), Grove; daughter, Lucinda Jane Collins, West Carrollton, Ohio; stepson, Bill Socha (wife Karen), Hutchinson, Kan.; sister, Dyvonna Turner (husband Jim), Derby, Kan.; brother, Lee Wright, Americus, Kan.; brother-in-law, Walter Osborn, Lyndon, Kan.; grandchildren, Loren Paul Wright, Shaun Wright, Bryan Sweeney, Crystal Ringler, Stacy Johnson, Tammy Cornish, Paul Barnes, and Tuesday Preeo; 12 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

An open visitation will be held from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at the Ellis Family Funeral Home, in Grove. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 1005 Leisure Road, Grove, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. A second service will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013, at the Feltner Funeral Home, 822 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, Kan. Burial will follow at Alpine Cemetery, near Melvern Lake.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to First United Methodist Church, 1005 Leisure Road, Grove, OK 74344.
