Rose Ann Parker, 89, Burlingame: Sept. 24, 1934 – June 14, 2024

BURLINGAME, Kan. – Rose Ann Parker, 89, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kan. She was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Fostoria, Kan., the daughter of Earl and Fern (Craven) Parker.

Rose graduated from Burlingame High School, Burlingame, Kan., in 1952. After graduation, she moved to Wichita, Kan., and worked for Boeing Aircraft. She returned to Burlingame and ran the Old BoxCar Cafe for a time. She then worked at Goodyear Tire, in Topeka, Kan., for 25 years, and then worked for the U.S. Postal Service, at Pauline, Kan.

Rose served on the Burlingame City Council and the board of Burlingame Apartments, and worked to get the Burlingame rodeo started again. Rose also loved sports, and she played softball on the OHSE Meats National Team, and softball and basketball for Stevens Dairy, in Wichita.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Fern; two sisters, Lila Jones and Verna Parker; and two brothers, Earl and Dale Parker.

Rose is survived by her brother, Don Parker, of Burlingame; two sisters, Shirley Hansford and Darlene Bobendrier, both of Vassar, Kan.; and other family and friends.

A graveside memorial service at Burlingame Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
