Hello from the Osage County Senior Center and Osage County Public Transportation, where things are happening.
Don’t’ forget the potluck dinner on July 1, eating at noon. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be cooked out on the grill.
Upcoming is a blood drive 2-6 p.m. July 16.
Quarter Maina is at 10 a.m. July 11, with breakfast starting at 9:30, here at the senior center.
Every second Wednesday, Taylor brings music bingo to the senior center at 10 a.m. This is so much fun.
Our sewing group has walker bags for sale. Stop in and look at all the wonderful things they do. They also have many knitting needles and crochet hooks if anyone is looking for any.
The senior center is a drop-off location for blessing bags, which serve the elementary children in our area who need weekend meals and snacks. We are still collecting for the up coming school year. Donations are very much needed to keep this program going.
Senior Harvester boxes can be picked up on the fourth Monday of each month. Boxes need to be picked up within two weeks from delivery date. If boxes are not picked up for two months, you will be removed from the list, so others who need the boxes can get them.
Every third Wednesday of the month, from 1 to 3 p.m., Conlin Bartow with VA Benefits is at the senior center.
Every fourth Wednesday of the month, at 11 a.m., a K-State nutritionist is at the senior center, offering great information.
I call bingo at 1 p.m. on the third Friday of each month in Melvern, at the community center.
Come in and enjoy the fun and activities we offer, including pitch on Mondays at 5:15 p.m.; painting on Mondays and Wednesdays (call the center for times); quarter bingo at 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; Mahjong at 1 p.m. Tuesdays; and make-and-take crafts at 2 p.m. Thursdays. We have many bridge groups that need players. Anyone interested can call the senior center.
Upcoming trips (sign-up required):
- A trip to Prairie Band Casino is planned for June 23, with the bus leaving at 9 a.m.
- The Lunch Bunch will leave at 10 a.m. June 26, heading to Jumpin’ Catfish, Olathe, Kan.
