MCFARLAND, Kan. – Tamra Sue Gilbert, 58, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026, at her home in McFarland, Kan. She was born July 22, 1967, in Garnett, Kan., the daughter of John and Mary (Mann) Orton.
Tamra lived around Quenemo, Kan., for several years and graduated from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School in 1986.
Tamra worked as a CNA at Hilltop Nursing Home, Lyndon, Kan., and at Wal-Mart, Ottawa, Kan. She had been a homemaker most of her life. She attended Washburn University for a paralegal degree.
Tamra was united in marriage to William Gilbert, Oct. 16, 2004, in Quenemo, Kan.
Tamra was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; and her sister, Theresa Turner.
Tamra is survived by her husband, William Gilbert, of the home; daughter, April (Cody) Kiser, of Lawrence, Kan.; son, Joshua (Nichelle) Shields, Herington, Kan.; two brothers, William Orton and Julius Orton; sister, Victoria Cochran; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday, July 10, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Quenemo.
