MICHIGAN VALLEY, Kan. – Jackie D. “J.D.” Corwine passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. He was born Jan. 8, 1947, in Miami County, Kansas, the son of O. L. and Elizabeth (Krueger) Corwine.
J. D. attended West Windy Grade School and Wellsville High School. He also attended diesel mechanic trade school, in Kansas City.
J. D. was married to Idonna L. Haney, May 24, 1969. In 1970, they moved to Michigan Valley, Kan., where they farmed, raised cattle, and had two sons. He is survived by his wife and their sons, Matthew (Kathie) and Mitchell (Angie), all of Michigan Valley.
For 20 years, J. D. was employed by various farm implement dealers. Then the next 20 years of his working career, he was employed by the Coffey County Natural Resources Conservation Service. He retired with 20 years service. All during his working career, he farmed and was in the cattle business.
J. D. was an ardent supporter of the FFA program.
Besides his wife and sons, J. D. is survived by his grandchildren, Bailey, Ainsley, Jamison and Brig. They were truly the light of his life and he spent every minute with them that he could. He is also survived by his two sisters, Barbara (Jim) Wright and Patricia (Jack) Bame; and brother, Steve (Marci) Corwine.
J. D. was preceded in death by his parents, O. L. and Betty; an infant sister; and brother, Terry.
Private family burial will be in ValleyBrook Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held 3-7 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Shelter House No. 5, Michigan Valley Park, at Pomona Lake.
