MELVERN, Kan. – Brian Wayne Irey, 51, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at his home near Melvern, Kan. He was born April 23, 1975, in Topeka, Kan., the son of Ronald and Diana Irey.
Brian had lived all of his life in and around the Melvern community. He graduated from Marais des Cygnes Valley High School in 1993.
Brian had worked for Goodyear Tire, Topeka, as a steelworker for 32 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local Union 307. Brian had a passion for Fantasy Football and was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Brian was married to Kori Koch, Oct. 28, 1995. To this union two sons were born, Trey Irey and Brennan Irey. They later divorced.
Brian was preceded in death by his sister, Tonya Irey Clark, Aug. 23, 2023; and an infant brother, Jon Irey.
Brian is survived by his two sons, Trey Irey, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Brennan Irey, Melvern; his parents, Ron and Diana Irey, Melvern; brother, Ron Irey, Topeka; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Brian’s life 3-6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Melvern Community Center. Private family inurnment will be in the Waverly Cemetery prior to the celebration of life.
