LYNDON, Kan. – Janice Ruth VanWey, 81, passed away Aug. 1, 2026, at her home in Lyndon, Kan. She was born on Dec. 18, 1944, in Jefferson City, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Jeanette (Cochran) Reitz.
Jan had lived in Kansas City, Topeka and Burlingame, Kansas. She lived in Lyndon for more than 30 years.
Jan worked as a church secretary, then for Hallmark Cards, and worked in bookkeeping for Commerce Bank, Topeka. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
On March 26, 1969, Jan was married to Burris “Van” VanWey, in Miami, Okla.
Jan was preceded in death by her husband, Van, on Jan. 21, 2021; and her parents, Walter and Jeanette.
Jan is survived by her son, William (Dianne) VanWey, of Chandler, Ariz.; two daughters, Vera Kay Davis, Blue Springs, Mo., and Susan (Frank) Edwards, Meriden, Kan.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
