Public transportation offers trips for Christmas shopping, and decorations sightseeing

Submitted by Osage County Senior Center Director Byron Jordan

The signup sheets are out for the two rider appreciation trips in December. Our annual Christmas Shopping Trip to Oak Park Mall, Overland Park, is set for Wednesday, Dec. 11. The bus will depart the Osage County Senior Center at 8:30 a.m., and a $4 transit donation is requested. Oak Park Mall is a very comfortable place to relax and people watch, walk around and browse, eat, and enjoy the holiday decorations.

The evening of Dec. 12 the bus will leave the senior center at 5:30 pm for an evening meal at Hays House in Council Grove. After the meal we will drive around the town to see the local holiday colors and then head back to Osage City. A $4 transit donation will also be requested for that trip.

Unfortunately, all transportation scheduling is subject to change due to weather or road conditions. This time of the year, plans can change overnight. Our policy is clear, if the director decides the weather or road conditions are such that the safety of our drivers or patrons are in jeopardy, the trip will be cancelled. All riders would be contacted, and if possible, the trip would be rescheduled.
