Marvin Lee Sherman, 79, Topeka: Sept. 30, 1934 – Nov. 15, 2013

TOPEKA – Marvin Lee Sherman, 79, formerly of Osage City, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

Marvin was born on Sept. 30, 1934, in Harveyville, Kan., the son of Reuben and Fern (Baker) Sherman. He graduated from Harveyville High School in 1952.

He married Doris Jean Woolery on Nov. 7, 1953, in Osage City.  She preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 2004. In 2006, he moved from Osage City to Topeka.

Marvin had worked as an installer for Western Electric Company for 31 year until his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lions Club, Osage City Country Club and Eagles, in Osage City. He was a driver for the Osage County Senior Center for many years and had square danced for 20 years.

Marvin is survived by two daughters, Tanya Sue (Dennis) Fraker, of Scranton, and Cynthia Jo (Robert) Goynes, Chico, Texas; son Randall Charles (Pamela) Sherman, Osage City; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and a step-great-granddaughter.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Donna Marie Ferris.

Funeral service was held Nov. 19 at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osage City. Burial followed at Union Cemetery, Osage City. Memorials can be made to the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or St. Francis Hospital and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
