Frigid blast provides perfect atmosphere for Burlingame’s Country Christmas celebration

Christmas was in the air Saturday, along with sub-freezing wind chills as Burlingame celebrated the 24th annual Burlingame Country Christmas with a lighted parade and daylong activities.

Parade winners were: Burlingame 4-H Club, first place; Prairie Fire Riders No. 1227, second; Jean and Jerry Kinnett with their wagon pulled by a Belgium horse team, third; Federated Church CIA youth group, fourth.


Dennis and Linda Eylander were honored as the Burlingame Holiday Couple and were escorted in a vintage limousine.

There were also 50 merchant drawing winners.

The Burlingame Chamber of Commerce recognized the following for their donations and support of the 24th Annual Country Christmas: Santa Fe Cafe, Jeanne Riggs, Dan Seele, USD454, Santa Fe Collision, Burlingame Casey’s, Country Legends 106.9, Flint Hills Beverage, Subway, Pueblo’s Mexican Restaurant, NAPA, John’s Barber Shop, Branine’s, Osage Hardware, Pizza Hut, Buzzard’s, Sonic, vendors and volunteers.

The following were recognized for their contributions in preparation, decorating, manning booths, parade and arranging vendors: Jeanne Riggs, Kayeloni Davidson, Brian and Heather Norton, Dulcelina Delekta and family, Patty Freed, Grizz Lee, Kenna and Ray Burns, and Kathy Williams.


Santa and Mrs. Claus stopped in Burlingame Saturday for a balmy stroll down Santa Fe Avenue.
