Osage County Senior Center News

By Osage County Senior Center Director Byron Jordan

AARP Tax Aid will be at the center Wednesday, March 13. The appointment calendar is full, and we ask that all those who have signed up be at the senior center at their assigned time frame. If you have any questions about this service, about your appointment time, or what you need to bring make sure you call the center or stop by before March 13.

On March 28, the bus will be going to Topeka for a meal and a movie, leaving the center at around 10:30 a.m. for lunch at Cook’s American Grill, followed by a choice of movies at the Hollywood Theater complex. A $3 transportation donation is requested, and then each rider will be responsible for the meal they order from the menu, and the matinee movies which run $7 for seniors and $7.75 for younger folks.

After all of the snow we had in February, it is important for Osage County citizens who utilize our general public transportation to know about our policy on hazardous road condition driving. Before putting a bus on the road we are obligated to consider the safety of our driver and riders, and the capabilities of our buses. Our buses are not four-wheel drive, and they do not do well in heavy snow, on ice-covered roads, or those roads that do not have a solid foundation covered by rock. When trips are cancelled, those riders already signed up will be called as soon as possible.

For more information, call 785-528-4906, visit the center at 604 Market St., Osage City, or see the senior center’s web page.
