Bridge repairs: Topeka Avenue opens; Davis Road to close

The Osage County Road and Bridge Department has announced that as of noon today, a bridge on south Topeka Avenue or Old Highway 75, south of Carbondale and north of Four Corners, is open to traffic.

The box culvert bridge about 1/4 mile north of U.S. 56 was one of six bridges in Osage County to be replaced in the first phases of the county’s $4.3 million bridge bond project. The project will replace or rebuild 13 bridges in the county.

The county road department also announced that Davis Road between 117th Street and 125th Street will be closed after the holidays for replacement of a bridge at that location. The road will be closed for 120 working days.

Revised 3 p.m. Dec. 13, : The Osage County Road and Bridge Department was notified by the contractor that Davis Road will not be closed as soon as was previously announced. The closure date will be announced when it is scheduled.
