Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn has advised that a wolf or hybrid wolf was sighted in an area north of Osage City near U.S. Highway 56 last Sunday, Dec. 15.

Anyone who sees an animal resembling a wolf is asked to contact the Osage County Sheriff’s Office at 911 or 785-828-3121 with the location, and as soon as possible.

While it is unknown if this wolf is aggressive, Dunn advises caution should be used if it is located. She also advises against shooting at the wolf, as it is prohibited to shoot an animal unless livestock or human life is in danger. The sheriff noted that possession of a wolf or wolf hybrid violates an Osage County resolution, and anyone who finds the animal will not be able to keep it.

No doubt some skoal chewing local punk will shoot it for bragging rights. Hunters are sick in the head thinking its cool to kill wildlife. Then they smile and pose for a picture with the dead animal. Talk about hillbilly. Can't wait for the day when deer go hunting for humans, now that would be a nice picture to send Rudolph.

I hope the wolf/dog bites some deer hunters before he's shot by Mr. Skoal.

It was in transit to a refugee in Oklahoma. It is no longer in the area.

So what's to happen to this animal when its found?

Sheriff Laurie Dunn needs to see my cat. Its a mixed tabby / mountain lion. He roams the streets of Osage City at night. His favorite food is fried chicken from Jerry’s.

Hybrid? I think not! Its a shepard originally breed for northern climate. Most likely its from a Minnesota breeder. My uncle had one of these "wolf" dogs 20 years ago in Hoyt.
