High wind predicted for Saturday

Osage County is included in a wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service in Topeka. Wind speeds will increase Saturday afternoon and diminish somewhat around sunset. Northwest winds are expected to be sustained at 25 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph.

Motorists are advised to keep a tight grip on the steering wheel and be prepared for frequent strong gusts. Residents are advised to secure trash cans, lawn furniture, and other loose or lightweight outdoor objects.

The wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Saturday, and covers Osage, Douglas, Lyon, Franklin, Coffey and Anderson counties.
