Woman killed in head-on crash on U.S. 75

A Yates Center woman died in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 75 in Coffey County on March 8.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Lucinda M. Burnett, 47, Yates Center, was driving a 2005 Ford Taurus northbound, when the vehicle went left of center and struck a southbound 2005 Ford pickup driven by Joseph C. Rottinghaus, 55, of Hutchinson. The accident happened about 3 p.m. approximately 6.5 miles north of New Strawn and was reported as an offset head-on collision.

Rottinghaus was transported to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, in Topeka. His condition was listed in the report as disabled.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
