American Legion post organizes ‘Sons’ group at Lyndon

American Legion Post 125, Lyndon, nominated new officers for the upcoming year Wednesday night, and has announced plans to form a Sons of the American Legion Squadron.

The new community service organization doesn’t require service in the military, but its members help the American Legion fulfill its mission.

“Now is your time to take part in a new community organization in Lyndon,” said Jayson Massey, who was nominated to serve as post commander for 2014. “If you are a male (of any age), whose parents or grandparents served during certain periods, you are eligible.”

Massey said the post is currently seeking individuals to hold a first meeting of the squadron.

“If you know of any other men who may want to join, ask them as well,” Massey said.

Other officers nominated to be sworn in next month were Lou Wohlitz for vice commander; Erin Massey, post adjutant; Geri Thomas, finance officer; Danny Roush, sargeant-at-arms, and Debbie Romine, chaplain and veterans service officer.

Also at Wednesday night’s meeting, the group approved a committee to establish a plan and budget for remodeling the post.

Anyone interested in joining the Sons of the American Legion is asked to email Massey at [email protected].
