Annual senior resource fair planned for April

Planning is under way for the eighth annual Senior Resource Fair, to be held April 24, and scheduling of vendors continues.

The annual fair, held at the Osage County Senior Center, is open to everyone, and numerous free health screenings are offered along with information about local senior care businesses and organizations.

The Lions Club Mobile Screening Unit, hosted by the Osage City Lions, will be parked in front of senior center, at 604 Market St., Osage City, and will be conducting vision and hearing screens, and blood sugar and blood pressure checks. Other health services available at the fair will be oral screenings, balance checks, skin cancer screenings, and a toenail clinic. Also offered will be VA information and assistance, and Osage County Sheriff Laurie Dunn speaking about senior security and safety.

Also included in the day’s activities will be a drawing for door prizes donated by vendors.

The senior center’s doors will be open 10 a.m.-1 p.m. April 24 for the fair; setup begins at 9 a.m. for vendors. For information about registration for vendor space, contact Susan McDonald at the Osage County Health Department, 785-828-3117 ext. 2, before March 20, 2014.

Sponsors for the event are the Osage County Senior Center and the Osage County Health Department. For more information, contact McDonald at the above phone number or Byron Jordan, Osage County Senior Center director, at 785-528-4906.
