OSAGE CITY – Marcelline J. Ritz, 89, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Osage Nursing Center, in Osage City.
Marcelline Jesse Gibson was born Oct. 30, 1924, in Ottawa, Kan., the daughter of Homer Otto and Mattie O. (Jessie) Gibson.
She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1942. Marcelline served in the United States Army during World War II as a surgical technician. She later worked as post office clerk and postmaster in Osage City for many years.
She married Louis Andrue Ritz on Dec. 13, 1945, in El Paso, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2007.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and former member of United Methodist Women in Osage City.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbi Ritz, of Osage City; a son, Ralph (Julie) Ritz, Osage City; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at the First United Methodist Church, Osage City, with burial following at Osage City Cemetery. Mrs. Ritz will lie in state 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
