Concrete patching resumes on I-35

Following a winter shutdown, the Kansas Department of Transportation has resumed concrete patching on Interstate 35 in Osage, Franklin and Coffey counties.

The 15-mile project area extends from the interchange at Williamsburg south to just south of the junction of I-35 and U.S. Highway 75. I-35 traffic will be reduced to one lane with a 55 mile per hour speed limit in the work zones. The patching should be finished by late April, weather permitting.

KDOT awarded the construction contract of $645,657 to R.A. Knapp Construction, of Kansas City, Kan. Donna Schmit, construction engineer at the Garnett KDOT office, reminds drivers to reduce speed on the project, use extra caution and “Give ‘Em a Brake!”

The preservation project is funded under the T-WORKS transportation program. Those with questions may contact Schmit at 785-448-5446, or KDOT Southeast District Public Affairs Manager Priscilla Petersen, 877-550-5368. For more information concerning T-WORKS projects see www.ksdot.org/tworks.
