Nancy Jane Decock, 78, Osage City: Jan. 20, 1936 – March 28, 2014

OSAGE CITY – Nancy Jane Decock, 78, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014, at Stormont-Vail Hospital from complications of cancer. She was born on Jan. 20, 1936, in Quenemo, Kan., the daughter of John and Eldora Storbeck Middleton.

Nancy grew up near Richland, and had lived in Lyndon and then in Osage City for the last 46 years.

She attended Berryton High School. She had operated the Sears store in Osage City for 12 years, and was a daycare provider and an apartment manager. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and Osage City United Methodist Church.

Nancy was married to Richard “Bert” Burkdoll in 1955. They were divorced. On March 8, 1968, Nancy married Bill Decock, in Lyndon.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill on Sept. 30, 2011; two grandsons, Ryan Whalen and Gary “Bubba” Burkdoll; a son-in-law, Troy Warner; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Warren.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Isaacs (Pat), Osage City, Jane Whalen (Dick), Lansing, Kan., Richard Burkdoll (Kathy) and Sheri Davis (Jeff), all of Osage City, Susan Warner Scheid (Pete) and Gary Burkdoll (Jennifer) all of Scranton, Ron Decock (Rose), Kansas City, Kan., and Lorie Decock, Osage City; two brothers, Charles Middleton (Carol), Ft. Worth, Texas, and Galen Middleton (Mary Lou), Highlands Ranch, Colo.; two sisters, Maxine Warren, Lyndon, and Phyllis Wilson (Robert), Sun City, Ariz.; and 23 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Osage City United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.  Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in the Osage City Cemetery.
