Leonard William Wray, 80, Pomona: July 17, 1933 – April 26, 2014

Leonard William Wray, 80, of Pomona, Kan., died April 26, 2014, at Brookside Retirement Community, in Overbrook, Kan. He was born July 17, 1933, in rural Franklin County, the son of Covy and Edna (Flory) Wray.

He was a lifelong Franklin County resident, attending the Kaub School when he was young. He was a long time self-employed dairy farmer until his retirement. After retirement Leonard kept busy by helping his son on the farm. He especially loved to run the disc. 

On August 9, 1959, Leonard was united in marriage with Elsie Elizabeth Bowman, at Boones Mill, Va. They shared over 54 years of loving marriage together. Elsie survives of the home.

He is also survived by a son; Ben Wray and his wife, Leah, of Pomona; a daughter, Linda Jamison and her husband, Delbert, of Pomona; four brothers, Lester Wray and his wife, Rozetta, of Laura, Ohio, Leland Wray and his wife, Flo, of Thomasville, Pa., Wayne Wray and his wife, Donna, of Fort Wayne, Ind., John Wray and his wife, Laura, of Greenville, Ohio, a grandson Devin Wray and his wife, Hanna, of Ottawa; six granddaughters; Kaylene Wray, Kristy Wray, Kara Wray, Michelle Jamison, Chelsea Way and her fiancée, Evan Mietchen, and Monica Jamison, all of Pomona; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Velma Wray and Ellen Wray, a brother; Alvin Wray, and nephew, Russell Wray.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the 8-Mile German Baptist Brethren Church, Centropolis. The family of Mr. Wray will meet with friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, in Ottawa, Kan.
