Charles L. Woodmas, 88, Lyndon: Nov. 1, 1925 – April 28, 2014

043014-CharlesWoodmasLYNDON – Charles L. Woodmas, 88, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014, at a Topeka hospital. He was born on Nov. 1, 1925, on the family farm near Melvern, the son of Chester and Emma McDonald Woodmas.

Charles had lived most of his life on the family farm until moving to Lyndon several years ago. He had farmed all of his life and also worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for a time and for Albert Swallow Construction, in Pomona. He had been a member of the board for Rural Water District No. 6 and had been chairperson.

In 1940, Charles was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a member of the Lyndon Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

On July 16, 1946, Charles was married to Betty Seyler, in Ottawa.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty on July 30, 2011, and by his sister and brother-in-law, Emily Frances and Martin Lacey.

He is survived by his son, Charles Duane Woodmas, of Emporia; daughter, Janice Hollander (Dennis), of Holton; brother, Tom Woodmas (Joan) of Lyndon; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 5, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Monday until service time. Burial will be in the Vassar Cemetery.
