Trailhead on Landon Nature Trail dedicated Saturday at Overbrook

The Kanza Rail-Trails Conservancy has invited area residents and interested trail users to the dedication of the Overbrook Trailhead of the Landon Nature Trail. The ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the south Maple Street trailhead.

After the ribbon-cutting, there will be a bike ride and walk on the trail. The trailhead and trail segment were partially funded by the Lattner Family Foundation.

KRTC announced in the spring of 2013 that a two-mile section of the Landon Nature Trail was nearing completion. Saturday’s ceremony will denote completion of that section.

When completed, the Landon Nature Trail will cross 38 miles of Osage and Shawnee counties, with a section inside the Topeka city limits. At its south terminal point in Osage County, the Landon Nature Trail intersects with the Flint Hills Nature Trail, also under development.
