Retirement reception planned for longtime Burlingame librarian

The Burlingame Community Library board is inviting everyone to share memories and congratulations at an open house for retiring library director Donelda Sage at 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the library.

Sage has served the library for 27 years. She was librarian when fire destroyed the library at city hall. She set up a temporary library which was used for two years and helped with the planning and development of the present facility which opened in 1994.

In more recent years, Sage implemented the automated catalog and has coordinated with the Northeast Kansas Library System to provide shared catalogs with many surrounding libraries, allowing for more interlibrary loan. A summer reading program has been a standard for many years.

Everyone is asked to join with the library board in honoring Sage for her years of service, and stop by the library to enjoy refreshments and visiting.
