FSA schedules livestock forage program meetings

Osage County Farm Service Agency will host Livestock Forage Program (LFP) informational meetings at the Lyndon Community Center, 204 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. There will be two meeting times, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Livestock Forage Program provides assistance to livestock producers suffering grazing losses due to drought conditions for 2014 and prior years.

Eligibility for benefits is triggered when the county is designated by the U.S. Drought Monitor, http://droughtmonitor.unl.edu, as having severe drought conditions that occur during the normal grazing period for the specific types of grazing land.

Owners or anyone leasing grazing land or pastureland located in a county with droughts indicated on the drought monitor are advised to contact their local county FSA office.

Sign up for LFP is currently ongoing; contact the Osage County FSA office at 785-828-4631 for additional details and eligibility requirements.
