Christene G. Ford, 87, Osage City: Aug. 1, 1926 – May 20, 2014

OSAGE CITY – Christene G. Ford, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at Peterson Nursing Home, in Osage City.

She was born Aug. 1, 1926, in Evergreen, Texas, the daughter of Sherman H. and Elizabeth Lillard Risner.

Christene was joined in marriage to Joe Herman Ford on Dec. 23, 1944, in Kountze, Texas. They traveled a lot during the early years of their marriage due to Joe’s occupation as a logger. They settled down in Osage City in 1968.

Christene was a proud homemaker and a career caregiver. She worked at Hill Top Nursing Home, in Lyndon, and later at Osage Manor, and received her CNA certification in 1977.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Joann McDonald, Topeka, Wanda (Dean) Beckman, Overbrook, Rhonda (Henry) Ford, Tonganoxie, and Jeanie (Gary) Ford, Junction City; sons, Rick (Rita) Ford, Osage City, and Tom (Susan) Ford, Topeka; sister, Susie Rodriguez, Kountze, Texas; brothers, Sherman Risner Jr. and Ray Risner, both of Livingston, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joe Ford, on Dec. 25, 2011, and a granddaughter, Amanda Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Flint Hills Baptist Church, in Osage City. Burial will follow services at Osage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
