County shop serves as household hazardous waste disposal point Thursday, Friday

The Osage County Road and Bridge Department and the Lake Region Solid Waste Authority are accepting household hazardous waste for the next two days at Lyndon. The hazardous waste disposal will be one of two pickups scheduled by the road department this year. Another collection is planned for the fall, but a date has not been set.

Thursday and Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., hazardous products can be dropped off at the Osage County shop, at 1215 Washington St., Lyndon, at the red Lake Region trailer.

Acceptable Items

Outdoor products: Pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, pool chemicals, roach & mouse poisons, etc.

Household products: Bleach cleaners, mothballs, shoe polish disinfectants, household batteries, furniture polish, etc.

Automotive products: Used motor oil, anti-freeze, brake fluid, car wax, auto batteries, carburetor cleaners, etc.

Paints: Latex paint, oil base paint, stains, paint remover, paint thinner, spray paint.

Items not accepted include explosives, kepone, tires, ammunition, asbestos, radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, and bio-hazards.
