Harriet Lucille Meneley, 90, Quenemo: July 18, 1923 – May 25, 2014

QUENEMO – Harriet Lucille Meneley, 90, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at her home in Quenemo, Kan. She was born on July 18, 1923, in Melvern, Kan., the daughter of Jesse and Hallenne Beck Goldsmith.

Harriet had lived in Melvern most of her life and had been in Quenemo for the last 15 years.

She owned and operated the Melvern Drug Store & Sundry for several years, had worked eight years at IBP in Emporia, and as a security guard at the Wolf Creek nuclear plant. She was a member of the Melvern United Methodist Church.

Harriet was married to Harold Meneley on Nov. 28, 1999, at the Quenemo Baptist Church.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers, Wayne Goldsmith, Wendell Goldsmith and William “Bill” Goldsmith; and her sister, Naomi Catlin.

She is survived by her husband Harold, of the home; three stepdaughters, Sharon McHenry, Sandy MacDonald and Shirley Funk; nine nieces and nephews; six step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services are scheduled for June 21 at the Melvern Cemetery. A time for the service has not been set. Feltner Funeral Home in Lyndon is assisting the family.
