Car stolen from Osage City, recovered north of town crashed in field


Skids marks lead from the highway through a ditch to where a 2001 Buick LeSabre sits in a field along U.S. 56 north of Osage City, after it was stolen earlier Thursday.

The Osage City Police Department has reported the theft and recovery of a vehicle from Osage City on Thursday.

The police department reported that about 7 a.m. May 29, Earl Ross of Osage City reported his 2001 Buick LeSabre was stolen from his residence.

At approximately 8 a.m., an Osage County Sheriff’s deputy located Ross’ vehicle, which had been crashed in a field along U.S. Highway 56, just north of the Dragoon Creek.

During the investigation, two 14-year-old male juveniles and one 16-year-old male juvenile were identified as suspects, and were arrested for felony theft about 11 a.m.

The juveniles were processed by juvenile intake and transported to the juvenile detention center in Franklin County.

The crashed vehicle was removed by Osage Trucking LLC. The Osage County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
