Notice: Osage City Fall Citywide Cleanup Week, Sept. 20 – Sept. 24, 2021

Fall Citywide Cleanup Week
Sept. 20 through Sept. 24, 2021

Cleanup will be for the one week only – all items should be placed at curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your regular scheduled trash pickup day.

Special pickup service can be scheduled for an additional fee. To schedule a special pickup or inquire about the fee, call Osage City Hall at 785-528-3714.

Acceptable items include:

  • Boxes
  • Junk Furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Small appliances and other metal items
  • Other bulky items

All smaller items must be bagged or boxed. Metal and brush must be separated.

Items that will not be picked up:

  • Tires
  • Vehicles and/or major auto parts
  • Buildings, major building parts, or large piles of building material
  • Construction materials – no lumber
  • Plaster or drywall
  • Roofing materials
  • Concrete chunks
  • Loose piles of trash
  • Animal carcasses
  • Refrigerators with Freon
  • NO HAZARDOUS WASTE

City employees will not enter your property to pick up trash and the City reserves the right to not pick up selected items that are not a part of this list.

The next City Wide Cleanup will be scheduled Spring 2022. No limbs or brush will be picked up until that time, unless a severe storm occurs.


Compost Site

The City of Osage City has a compost site located at Fourth and Superior streets (behind the old sewer plant) for dumping of tree limbs, grass clippings and leaves. For more information contact Osage City Hall at 785-528-3714.

Public Notice: Osage County seeks bids for surplus property in Quenemo

The Board of County Commissioners of Osage County, Kansas, has declared the following described real property as surplus property:

  • Lots 34 & 36, Third Street, Logan’s Addition to Quenemo, Osage County, Kansas.
  • Lots 88 and 90, on 2nd Street, in the original town of Quenemo, Kansas, according to the recorded plat thereof and All of lot 2, on 3rd Street, Logan’s Addition to Quenemo, according to the recorded plat thereof.

Said property shall be sold by sealed bid. Bids must be in sealed envelopes, delivered to the County Clerk on or before August 2, 2021 at 8:30 a.m.  Bids will be opened at 10:00 a.m. on the 2nd day of August, 2021.

The county reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Any title work will be at the expense of the buyer and the property will be sold by quit claim deed.

Public Notice: Osage County General Public Transportation to begin fee-based service

Osage County General Public Transportation has received approval from Kansas Department of Transportation to change from donation-based service to a fee or fare-based service.

Effective July 1, 2021, passengers or riders will need to have the correct fee or fare. Change will not be available. The fee must be paid prior to transporting. Riders are asked to make arrangements prior to their appointment date.

Coupons will be available.

One-way trips will be charged the same as door to door. Example: If you want transported to a doctor appointment in Topeka and then ride home with a family member or friend, the trip charge will be the same.

Caregivers will not be expected to pay when going with their charge.

Signature page of the passenger handbook will need to be on file before July 1, 2021.

To be considered for reduced price for seniors 60 or older or disabled, riders must show driver’s license for proof of age, or show proof of income for disability discount (or copies).

Public Notice: Comments invited on BNSF tower installation proposal in Osage County

PUBLIC NOTICE: Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railway proposes to install two 240-ft-tall communications towers in their railroad right-of-way in Osage County at (latitude, longitude) 38.479275, -95.748669, and 38.573522, -95.524575, which will be licensed through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). As part of its responsibilities assigned by FCC for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), BNSF invites the public to notify BNSF of any effects the placement of this tower may have on properties listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, or any concerns the public may have with regard to the potential impact the tower may have on natural and cultural resources subject to NEPA or NHPA review and consideration. Notice to Bidders: Rehabilitation projects in Emporia, Kan.

Notice to Bidders

The City of Emporia is accepting bids for housing rehabilitation projects in Emporia, Kansas funded with a $300,000 CDBG Grant. Contractors must have RRP lead paint training and be able to obtain a local license. Contact Jeff Lynch at 620-343-4285 or [email protected] for bid information.  

District court office to close periodically in October for new software implementation

Osage County District Court Clerk Charna Williams has announced the court office in Lyndon will be closed to the public for several days this month as staff is training for new court software to be implemented.

The district court office in the Osage County Courthouse, Lyndon, Kan., will be closed to the public on the following times and days:

  • 8 a.m.- noon Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2020
  • 8 a.m.- noon Monday, Oct. 19, 2020
  • 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020
  • 8 a.m.- noon Friday, Oct. 23, 2020

The office will also be closed for Columbus Day on Oct. 12, 2020.

Williams reported that a “go live” date for the new software is scheduled for Nov. 2, 2020.
