In cooperation with the Osage County Historical Society, Osage County News has published this list of Osage County cemeteries and their locations. Osage County News has also created a map that shows the general locations of the cemeteries, which are listed with directions on the reverse side of the map. A printable version of the two-page map and cemetery list is available here.
When visiting the cemeteries listed, visitors are advised that some are on private property and property owners’ privacy should be respected. Not all cemeteries are located on all-weather roads, and some are in remote locations in Osage County; visitors should watch weather conditions and be aware of possible road hazards. Use of a highway map or GPS device to assist with navigation when trying to locate cemeteries is also advised.

Osage County Cemeteries
The following numbers correspond with the numbers on the map to show the general location of cemeteries in Osage County, Kan. Some cemeteries have had more than one name. All known as of 2016 are listed. Not all routes are on all-weather roads.
- Prairie Center – 6 miles north of Burlingame on Burlingame Road to 125th. Left 1 mile to Valencia Road. Lat. 38 deg 50’ 25” N, Long. 95 deg 52’, 08” W.
- Burlingame – 1 mile south of Burlingame on Highway 56.
- Hunt – 4 miles west of Burlingame on Highway 31. Single Dragoon Soldier Grave.
- Rapp/Maple Grove – 4 miles west of Osage City on Highway 56 to Davis Road, school and cemetery. 39 deg 39’ 9” North; 95 deg 54’ 47” W.
- Union/Swedish – 1 mile north of Osage City on west side of Highway 31, just north of Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
- Osage City/Crown Hill/American – 1 mile north of Osage City on Highway 31 on east side of highway
- Mt. Calvary of Osage City/St. Patrick’s – 1 mile north of Osage City on Highway 31 on west side of highway.
- Dog/South Ninth – 1 mile south from 9th and Market in Osage City, cemetery is in the trees on west side of road, just south of housing development. 38 deg 37’ 9” N; 95 deg 49’ 12” W.
- Barclay – south of Osage City on Highway 170 to 269th St, then west 2 miles to Valencia Road, then south on Valencia 1 mile. 38 deg 34’ 10” North; 95 deg 52’ 31” W.
- Arvonia – From Osage City on Highway 170 turn south ( left) on Hoch Road going over the lake bridge, turn west (right) on 325th Street and go 2 1/2 miles to Docking Road, turn north 1/2 mile. 38 deg 29’ 9” N; 95 deg 53’ 41” W.
- Alpine– south of Lyndon on Highway 75 to Highway 278. Go west on 293rd Road. Veer south to Indian Hills Road, then into 309th Road that goes east into Turkey Point Park. Cemetery is in east end of park. Watch for signs. 38 deg 30’ 19” N; 95 deg 46’ 31” W.
- Olivet/Glasgow – Olivet Exit on Highway 75, south on Lewelling to 325th Road. 38 deg 28’ 38” N; 95 deg 43’ 44” W.
- Melvern – 1 mile west of Melvern on Highway 31. 38 deg 30’25”N; 95 deg 39’21”W.
- Pleasant View/Connelly – 3 1/2 miles east of Melvern on 309th Road. 38 degrees 30’ 26” N; 95 deg 34’ 22” West.
- Humphreys/Tequa/Schreck/Berry – south on 5th Street in Quenemo 2.9 miles, cross RR tracks and 2 bridges to Willoughby’s driveway, turn west into their drive, follow winding rocky road go left at the split for .3 mile down the hill. 38 deg 32’ 25” N; 95 deg 31’ 52” W.
- Central/Sutton/Maxon/Eastlake – Travel east on Highway 68 south of Lyndon to Berryton Road, south 3 miles to 293rd Road, east 1 mile to Croco Road, north 1/4 mile to lane on right that leads to cemetery in field. Watch for small sign. 38 deg 32’ 37” North; 95 deg 37’ 1” W.
- Danish – Travel east on Highway 68 south of Lyndon to Berryton Road, then south 1/2 mile. 38 deg 34’ 21” N; 95 deg 38’ 16”.
- Lyndon – north of City of Lyndon to 245th Road then 1 mile W.
- Vassar – 3/10 mile south of Vassar on Croco Road, or Highway 75 turn east onto Highway 268, go 3 miles to Croco Road, then 1/2 mile N, cemetery on the right.
- No Name No. 8 – on Lamont Hill, 1/4 mile north of junction of 268 and 368 south of Pomona State Park entrance. On embankment on east side of highway. 38 deg, 38’ 48.31” N; 95 deg, 36’ 8.88” W.
- Salt Creek/Knauf – From Highway 268 and Ratner Road, go south 1.5 miles to 249th Road. Turn west 200 yards to wooded lane on right. Follow lane that winds 100 yards to cemetery. 38 deg 36’ 22” N; 95 deg 35’ 50” W.
- Deaver – 1/2 mile south of 268 Highway and Ratner Road. A. L. Morris stone only one remaining in the front yard of Peiman home.
- Oak Hill – 1/2 mile north of Quenemo on Highway 68. Cemetery on the west side of Highway down long lane. 38 deg 35’ 28” N; 95 deg 31’ 57” W.
- Eastview/Curry – 1/8 mile east of junction of Highway 268 and 68, north of Quenemo. 38 deg 36’ 42” N; 95 deg 31’ 31” W.
- Pleasant Ridge/Cook – 1.9 miles south of Michigan Valley on Stubbs Road. Cemetery is 1/10 mile south of 229th Road. Stones are under cedar trees on west side of road. 38 deg 36’ 42” N; 95 deg 31’ 38” W.
- Mt. Zion/Fairfax/Farmerville – Highway 75, then east on 205th Road to Berryton Road, then south to 213th St, then east 1 mile to Croco Road. Cemetery on SE corner. 38 deg 40’ 47” N; 95 deg 37’ 6” W.
- Highland/Dodder – Highway 75 north of Lyndon to 197th Street then west 1.5 miles, on north side of road. 38 deg 42’ 40” N; 95 deg 42’ 34” W.
- Scranton – 161st and Lewelling Road then 1/2 mile south on the SE side of Scranton. 38 deg 46’ 14” N; 95 deg 43” 24” W.
- Carbondale – 1 mile east, off Old Highway 75, south of Carbondale on 149th Street to Adams Road. 38 deg 47’ 49” N; 95 deg 40’ 3” W.
- Peterson’s Graves – From Highway 75 and 181st St go east 3 miles (past Berryton Road 1/2 mile, road curves north to stone house) headstones in front yard. Watch for dogs. 38 deg 44’ 19” N; 95 deg 37’ 59” W.
- Valleybrook – Highway 75 to 189th Street then east 6 miles to Ratner Road. Cemetery on the right or south 1/2 mile past Ratner Road. Jean Gilmore in home across the road has cemetery records. 38 deg 43’ 26” N; 95 deg33’ 55 W.
- Overbrook – From Highway 56 go south on Cedar Street (2 blocks east of Shawnee Heights Road/Maple Street) in Overbrook, follow curved road to cemetery. 38 deg 46’ 30” N; 95 deg 32’ 53” W.
- Ridgeway – Highway 56 and Maple in Overbrook, go north 3.6 miles to 129th Street, west or left 2.3 miles to Paulen Road, then north 1/2 mile to 125th St, then left on 125th 1/4 mile. Or from Carbondale at Highway 75 and 137th Street go 3 miles east to Berryton Road, then north 1 1/2 miles to 125th St, then east 1 1/4 miles. Cemetery on the north side. 38 deg 50’ 25” N; 95 deg 36’ 24” W.
- Old Prairie Center – 1 mile east of Prairie Center Cemetery on 125th Street. North side of road. 38 deg 50’ 27” N; 95 deg 51’ 5 W
- Mt. Calvary of Scranton –1 mile west of Highway 75 on 173rd Street. 38 deg 45’ 23” N; 95 deg 42’ 14” W.
- Borland Private Cemetery – From Burlingame and Highway 56 go east 3 miles to Urish Road, then south 2 miles to 189th St, then west about 1/4- 1/2 mile on dirt road. On private land.
- Charlie Grave – SW of soldier’s grave on Highway 31.
- Emily French Grave – 2 miles north of Overbrook. Private land.
- Silver’s Graves – Private, south of Lyndon.
- Old Burlingame (Council City) – 1.3 W of Burlingame’s town center and 200 yards south.
- Osage County Poor Farm – S of Burlingame to 181st Street, W 1.75 miles. Private.
Not on map:
Havana Cemetery – located about 1.5 miles N of the Havana Stage Station ruins. Private.
Martin Bates’ grave – On the west edge of Burlingame off Prospect Street.
