Lukas Sinclair, 10, Carbondale, and Wylie Young, 10, Overbrook, were recognized for achievements in scouting at the Overbrook Boy Scout Pack 112 meeting Dec. 19, 2016, at Grace Community Church, Overbrook. Wylie and Lukas, both Webelo Cub Scouts, have been completing requirements to advance to Boy Scouts next year.

Both scouts received the following awards: Adventures in Science, Building a Better World, Camper, Cast Iron Chef, Project Family, and Sportsman. Wylie also earned Duty to God and You. To earn the awards the scouts did activities such as planning and cooking a meal over a campfire, setting up a campsite, learning how to properly raise, lower, and fold the U.S. Flag. The pack also donated toys to the Topeka Rescue Mission, and explored what it means to be a good citizen and practice living by the Boy Scout Law.

Marty Young, den leader and proud mother, noted that though the pack currently has only two members, “these boys have worked their tails off” to earn the awards.

“Boy Scouts are still in our community and doing good things,” Young said.
