Judith Lucille Pickens, 76, Osage City: Sept. 21, 1940 – May 29, 2017

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Judith L. Pickens, 76, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, at her home at Osage City, Kan. Judith Lucille Peek was born Sept. 21, 1940, in Topeka, Kan., the daughter of Charles O. and Helen G. Peek. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1958.

She was united in marriage to Richard Ora Pickens on Dec. 21, 1958, in Topeka. They met on a blind date set up by their friends.

Judy was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to play bingo, but most important was her family, they always came first. She was a member of the American Legion Post 198 Auxiliary.

Judy will be forever remembered by her husband, Richard, of the home; two daughters, Dena Moore, Osage City, and Diana (Cary) Christie, Eugene, Ore.; son, Richard D. Pickens, Osage City; son-in-law, Jack Anstaett, Osage City; sister, Joann (Jerry) Burgen, Lawrence, Kan.; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with two more arriving this year.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles O. and Helen G. Peek; a daughter, Debra Anstaett; and five brothers.

A celebration of life gathering will be held 2-4 p.m. ‪Sunday, June 25, at the American Legion Building, Osage City.
