Things are going on at Osage County Senior Center – join in!

Everyone is invited to participate in daily activities at the Osage County Senior Center. Here’s the regular schedule:

  • Mondays – Sewing 8 a.m.; exercise with Dee 9 a.m.; Threads 1 p.m.; pitch is back 5:30 p.m.
  • Tuesdays – Ceramics 9 a.m.; exercise with Dee 9 a.m.; Mexican Train with snacks 12:30 p.m.
  • Wednesdays – Sewing 8 a.m.; exercise with Dee 9 a.m.
  • Thursdays – Art and painting 9 a.m.; exercise with Dee 9 a.m.
  • Fridays – Exercise with Dee 9 a.m.; bingo 10 a.m.

Upcoming:

A hearing aid service will be at the center Friday, Oct. 16. Toenails clipping or feet problems will be checked on Oct. 20 by appointment with Hermes Healthcare; call 316-260-4110.

John McGrath, a Medicare/Medicaid benefits specialist, will be at the center 12-4 p.m. Oct. 21. Anyone who would like to talk to him should call the center at 785-528-1170 to make an appointment. McGrath can advise regarding supplemental plans for those 65 and older on Medicare.

Sewing Chicks are giving quilts to local veterans for Veterans Day. Any local veteran who has not received one previously is asked to come to the senior center and sign up.

Commodities are distributed the second Wednesday of every month. Recipients are required to be 60 years old or older to qualify with an income of $1,354 or less for one person or $1,832 or less for two persons in the same house; income verification is required; a one-month waiting period is due to ordering a month in advance. Anyone in Osage County is eligible if they meet the above qualifications. Anyone unable to come to Osage City to pick up commodities is asked to notify the senior center.
