SCRANTON, Kan. – Laura Elaine Badger, 76, formerly of Scranton, Kan., departed this life on Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at the Healthcare Resort, Topeka, Kan. She was born March 11, 1944, in Topeka, the daughter of Walter and Eleanor (Phelon) Smith.
Elaine, as she was known to all, had worked as a registered nurse in hospitals across Kansas. She was a member of the Stormont-Vail Retired Nurses Association, Sunflower Lions Club, Stull United Methodist Church, and a volunteer and on the board of directors of the Schuyler Museum, Burlingame, Kan.
On June 5, 1965, Elaine was united in marriage to Tom Badger, in Scranton.
Elaine was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tracy Badger; and her parents, Walter and Eleanor.
Elaine is survived by Tom, her husband of 55 years; son, Todd Badger, of Stuart, Fla.; daughter, Tara Phillips, Wichita, Kan.; brother, Walter Smith III, Scranton; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Elaine was cremated and a celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Stull United Methodist Church, Lecompton, Kan.
