A local home health care company was recently named one of the Kansas Department of Commerce’s merit award winners as part of Business Appreciation Month, an annual celebration of Kansas businesses and their contributions to their communities and the state economy.
Home Town Health Care, with an office located in Lyndon, was nominated by the Fredonia Chamber of Commerce for the award that recognizes successful Kansas companies that contribute jobs and support local activities. Home Town Health Care was one of 79 merit award winners from across the state.
The Fredonia Chamber of Commerce presented the award to Home Town Health Care during a community picnic celebration July 19 in Fredonia.
The home health care company’s home office is in Fredonia; other locations include Cedar Vale, Emporia and Lyndon.
Jon Reed, the company’s director of operations, said that although the award was presented in Fredonia, “it is a result of the service, commitment and hard work by all of our employees from Fredonia, Cedar Vale, Emporia and Lyndon.”
“Home Town Health Care wants to thank our employees for their dedication to our patients; the doctors, their staff and the families who have entrusted loved ones to Home Town’s care,” Reed said.
The Business Appreciation Month awards program also presents 20 regional business excellence awards, five of which are chosen as finalists for the Governor’s Award of Excellence – the top award given to a business by the state.
B&W Trailer Hitches, of Humboldt, was announced as the 2013 recipient of the Governor’s Award of Excellence, during the Team Kansas-Kansas Cavalry Awards Banquet, held in June in Emporia.
“It is fantastic that we are able to honor these outstanding businesses,” Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George said. “Our businesses are job creators and engines of economic growth. Business Appreciation Month is a great way to recognize the tremendous contributions that they make to their communities and to Kansas.”
