Arlene Loudell (Briggs) Peters, 94, Topeka: April 14, 1926 – Dec. 13, 2020

TOPEKA, Kan. – Arlene Loudell (Briggs) Peters, 94, of Topeka, Kan., departed this life Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at Lexington Park Health and Rehab, Topeka. She was born April 14, 1926, on the family farm north of Burlingame, Kan., the daughter of Alvin L. and Elma I. (Wells) Briggs.

She grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1943.

On Sept. 5, 1947, in Osage City, Kan., Arlene was united in marriage to Maurice Hayden Peters. To this union they shared a daughter, Joan Elaine. They shared more than 46 years of marriage before Maurice passed away on July 14, 1994.

Arlene worked more than 10 years for the Kansas Power & Light, Topeka. She would spend most of her working life as homemaker, taking care of her family. She later worked for Southwest Publishing, Topeka, in the mailing department.

Arlene was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Topeka. She also volunteered at KTWU, Topeka. She enjoyed quilting and canning, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice; and a brother, Charles Briggs.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Joan E. Harvey (Russell), of Hoyt, Kan.; sister, Norma Jean Harper, Topeka; two grandchildren, Jeremy R. Harvey (Shelley), Topeka, and Amber D. Kirmse (Alan), Topeka; four great-grandchildren, Indi, Oliver, Kaya and Claire; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Private graveside services will be held at Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame.
