AUBURN, Kan. – Lorena (McNabb) Fellers Carlat, 98, passed away Jan. 2, 2021, in Auburn, Kan. Lorena was born April 6, 1922, south of Melvern, Kan., the daughter of Lester and Clara (Patterson) McNabb.
Through her high school years, Lorena sang and performed at a radio station in Ottawa, Kan. Lorena graduated from Melvern High School in 1941.
She married Justin Fellers in Bentonville, Ark. Lorena went on the road to harvest wheat; she went from Texas to Canada. They divorced in 1952. She married Russell “Dale” Carlat, June 4, 1954, at Burlingame, Kan.
Lorena worked various jobs, including being in charge for the Red Stocking fundraiser for the Kansas Children’s Service League, and serving as secretary for its office of finance and development. Lorena retired in 1976. Dale and Lorena traveled throughout the United States. They also wintered in Mesa, Ariz. Dale and Lorena resided in Tecumseh, Kan., for 61 years until his death in October 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Lawrence and Lorn McNabb.
Survivors include Robert Neillin Fellers (Linda), of Melvern, John Lester Fellers (Linda), Melvern, Dan Whitford Fellers, Topeka, Kan., LeAnn Renee Fouts (Lee), Auburn; 13 grandchildren, Chris Fellers, Sun Prairie, Wis., Kim Marney, Olathe, Kan., Shannan Buenaflor, Liberty, Mo., Mendy Craig, Melvern, Brian Fellers and Theresa McNew, both of Overland Park, Kan., Wayne Fellers, McKinney, Texas, Scott, Mark, and Anna Fellers and Bridgett Davis, all of Topeka, Tammy Shields, Bend, Ore., Brady Fouts, Tecumseh; and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family received friends 5-7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Auburn Cemetery, Auburn.
