Due to Marais des Cygnes Valley USD 456 being in remote learning, the Melvern Jr. Highline 4-H Club opted to forgo their December meeting, yet at the same time the members still wanted to follow through with the care packages they annually send to service men and women who will be unable to come home for the holiday season.

Dec. 6, 2020, club members dropped off their care packages supplies. From those supplies, eight very full care packages were sent off to deserving men and women as a small thank you for everything they do.

On Nov. 8, 2020, the Melvern Jr. Highline 4-H Club held its monthly club meeting at the Marais des Cygnes Valley Attendance Center. At 5:09 p.m., President Braelyn McNally called the meeting to order. The club began the meeting with The Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H Pledge, led by Braelyn.

Secretary Allie Reeser called roll, members and parents were to answer with ‘their favorite Thanksgiving food’; there were 12 members and eight adults present. Allie then read the minutes from the last meeting; they were approved as read. A treasurer’s report was read by Treasurer Harper Melton; it was approved as read.

Reporter Bella Reeser said she submitted one article to the newspaper.

In Leader’s Report, Lisa Reeser reminded members to read over meeting notes sheet and to send thank yous for fair trophies. She offered congratulations to all KSF participants, and reminded about parent KAP judges, officer’s training on Nov. 11, sign up for program and snacks, and don’t forget to enroll.

In old business, it was decided to send 10 care packages to service men and women, but to forgo Christmas caroling due to COVID-19. In new business, the club elected officers for the 2020-2021 4-H year.

In program, club members enjoyed a snack, while watching Frontier District-Osage County Achievement Night.

In songs, Anna Arb, Khloe Rice, and Maddie Johnson led the club in singing “If You’re happy and You Know It”. At 6:14 p.m., it was moved and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
